Erick's Baptism

These are the announcements my friend Mandy did for us. She also took the awesome family pictures we did out at Lake Las Vegas. Erick was super excited to have his turn to get to be baptized! The Eves' came down that morning to start the day with Erick's baseball game. Then we hung out and ate pizza until it was time to go to the baptism. Everything went smoothly. Our ward was the host ward, and I doubled as the Primary Presidency representative from the ward and the mom! His primary class sang "When I am Baptized," and Sister Christina Sorensen spoke about baptism and the Holy Ghost. After the baptism Bishop Killian spoke about his gift of the flashlight and journal he gave to Erick. Erick was being such a character cracking jokes as the Bishop was talking to him in front of everyone. Afterwards everyone came back to our house for sandwhiches, fruit, chips, and dessert. It was so great to have so many family members and friends attend the baptism. We are very blessed to both have great families!

Arbor Day

We don't usually don't usually do anything to celebrate Arbor Day, but this year was a little different! At the kids' school, Fay Galloway, each grade has a very special event that only that grade gets to do, and the other grades get to look forward to when they move up. Rachel has looking forward to the Arbor Day celebration. It was really cool. They studied about trees, recycling, the environment, etc. Then they tie-dyed shirts green, and practiced songs and performed "The Lorax," by Dr. Seuss. Rachel was one of the Narrators. They all had their lines memorized and did a great job! Then they got to attend the Arbor Day celebration put on by the City of Henderson and they dedicated a tree with a cool plaque. It was a great experience and I am so proud of Rachel for performing in front of so many people. She is really growing up and becoming more courageous through her experiences.

Erick's 8th Birthday

Finally the long awaited day came where Erick received some gifts he was really looking forward to. (1) his very own scriptures and cool basketball scripture case, (2) his tool kit that his Grandpa made him, (3) the video game Sklanders. He was also very excited to be able to be baptize when he turned 8! He celebrated with a breakfast of Friendly's doughnuts, lunch with his parents at McDonald's (pulled out from school,) and a friend party at Chuck E. Cheese with Papa John's pizza for dinner!
