Fourth of July 2013

This year we spent our fourth in St.George with most of the Eves side of the family. We did all the traditional things: swimming, BBQ, lit fireworks, and watched the big show at the Sun Bowl from the hill.

Summer Basketball

This summer Erick played in a basketball league and was lucky enough to get on the same team with 2 of his cousins!
Erick, Kyle, and Cole were making up plays for them to run together, they played hard and really enjoyed a chance to play together. It was fun to have so much family supporting each other at the games!

Rachel's 11th Birthday

Rachel celebrated her birthday right after school got out. The day started with her favorite breakfast, then a pedicure from mom.
Then we let her choose 3 friends to take to Circus Circus Adventuredome. Our whole group was very brave and everyone went on all the rides together!!! She took Claire McNabb, Belle Allen, and Sariah Hughes.
Then in the month of June we celebrated with the cousins at the Edwards house.
The tall one is a watermelon cake, aunt Kristen is the best at cakes!

Smith Center

Rachel and I got a chance to attend "Beauty and the Beast" at the Smith Center in May!!! The show was so well done, and Rachel loved feeling grown up and staying out late on a school night. It was so fun to watch her sing along and just be enthralled with the live performance, worth every penny!
Before I got busted by the usher for taking a picture inside the theater, I was able to snap this shot of the stage!
What a fun night out together we had!!!

Mets 2013 Spring

Erick played in Little League Minors this year. He was assigned to play on the METS. He played second base and outfield. The kids pitch in this league so it was a little more challenging to hit, but Erick did great!! He got a base hit or two just about every game, received the game ball, and was chosen from his team to try out for the ALL STARS. Since he is only nine I can still say, he looks so cute in his uniform!!!

Charlotte's Web

Towards the beginning of fifth grade the music teacher at Fay Galloway announced try-outs for the play Charlotte's Web. Rachel had a few friends talk her into auditioning. For those who know Rachel, she can be very shy but we thought she should give it a try and told her to do her best. She was assigned the part Lurvy the farm hand and even had a few actual speaking lines! She absolutely loved going to rehearsals and feeling a part of something. I think it sparked an interest in theater for her down the road. She did a great job and it was so fun to watch her!

Erick's 9th Birthday

This year Erick had a hard time deciding what he wanted to do for his birthday. After exploring the internet for ideas, and with the playset gone in the backyard, we had a big space that Erick decided a camping themed party would be fun.
The activities he chose were to go geocaching at a park, have pizza and soda, make smore, and watch a movie in a tent. It was a really low key, easy party for my where the boys entertained themselves! Brian did a great job setting up the geocache and even went over to the park for a few HOURS before the party to make sure the boys could actually find something on their search. He really is a great dad, I don't think the kids realize how blessed they are to have him to do things like that!

General Conference

Ever since Brian and I were first married, we made it a goal to take our kids to a live session of General Conference when they were old enough. The stake presidency was visiting our ward one Sunday and happened to have tickets on them. So we got Sunday afternoon session tickets. Right after we finished the triathlon, we loaded up and drove to our hotel in Salt Lake. Brian quickly changed and went to a nearby chapel for the priesthood session, while I took the kids swimming at the hotel indoor pool. Our hotel was really nice and had a hot breakfast buffet the next morning. We arrived with a little extra time to walk Temple Square and the Conference Center. It was a wonderful experience to be able to feel the spirit so strongly as our church leaders bore testimony of our Savior. It was much easier to stay awake in a live session too! Overall a great, but jam packed weekend!

Sand Hollow Aquatic Center Triathlon

April 6 Brian, Rachel and Erick signed up to do a Triathlon. We arrived in St.George Friday evening and drove to the Aquatic Center to pick up registration packets for everyone and get numbers.
The next morning Brian's race was first. By the time we got there bright and early at 6AM there was already a long line to start the swim in the pool. They put 2 people in each pool lane.
Then he went on to do the bike and run. He did great, and I was there cheering and photographing the whole thing!
After he was finished, we drove back to St.George to get the kids ready for their race. This was their first time competing and I was so proud of them and their great attitudes. Erick and Rachel got to get in the pool at the same time, then off they went.
Brian helped Erick and I helped Rachel at each of the transition stations.
They both gave it their all and never slowed down until they crossed the finish line!

Cub Annapolis

Every year the cub scouts have a cub annapolis. It is a pretty fun and laid back night (unlike the pine wood derby.) The families of the scouts serve as their pit crew. After each lap around the church gym they come back to the families and the pit crew performs a task such as changing their socks and shoes, giving them a drink of water, or washing their windshields (goggles.) It was a fun night for all. We are blessed that our ward scouts puts on so many events.

Spring Break- AZ

This year we planned a short trip down to Surprise, AZ to catch(literally) a few major league spring training games. I thought it would be fun to take the whole family on a side trip to IKEA, but it wasn't my best idea! But Brian was able to get a little taste of Sweden by ordering a Jul Must drink with his lunch. He likes it, but the rest of us think it tastes a little like cherry cough syrup! The first night we went to the Dodgers vs. Royals at a really nice stadium. The weather was amazing and we had so much fun being just a few feet away from the major leaguers! Look who got a game ball! The next day we went to an afternoon game Mariners vs. Royals, not as good as weather, but the game and fans were great! We had a great time, and will totally go another year!
