"No one ever pays me in gum!"

This blog post is inspired by the hilarious Trident layers gum commercial. We love it! It makes us laugh every time! We especially like the part when the kids beg to get their allowance in gum...which gave us an idea. The kids both got gumball machines from the dollar store for Christmas from each other. I was having a hard time getting the kids to do their chores, doing dishes, homework, and practicing piano were all getting to be a battle. So I decided to pay them in gumballs for their machine. It worked great at first: they were sharing, doing extra chores, and listening the first time I asked them to do something. Especially when the phrase "for a gumball" was attached, they'd do just about anything. Heck, Rachel even folded all her dirty clothes in the hamper just to make her room look extra clean. But to no avail, this is how their gumball machines look today.

Too funny! We are experiencing the same thing over here...the girls did awesome with their chore chart for the 1st couple weeks now I feel like I just follow them around all day saying, "Did you do your morning chores? Let's get the afternoon chores done." Blah. :)
