The last week of school Fay Galloway does an awards assembly where some of the kids in each class get recognized in Math, Reading, PE, Music, Art, and Citizenship. One girl and one boy from each class gets the Principal's Award, the teacher writes an essay about why they chose each student, and the Principal reads it aloud at the assembly. Erick was chosen by his teacher for the Reading Award. Erick started the school year reading at a third grade level, and got the most accelerated reading points in his class. They had a movie/popcorn party for those students. Rachel was chosen for the Principal's award. Her teacher Mrs. Bashor, had this to say about Rachel, "Dependable, conscientious, responsible, kind, thoughtful, helpful.... I could go on and on, as this student is all of these and more. This student volunteers to work with classmates in need of help. Because she is both diplomatic and courteous, her help is eagerly received and has earned her the respect of her peers. This student has served as the class's "teacher assistant" for much of the school year. Knowing that she can be counted on in every way has made her a most valued member of the class." I am very proud of Rachel and Erick for doing their homework and being responsible! Their good study habits earned both of them straight A's all year long! Way to go Rachel and Erick! Now their attendance this year is another story...
